Bharatanatyam is an Indian classical dance that originated in the Hindu temples of Tamil Nadu. It is a pre-eminent Indian classical dance and regarded as the mother of many other Indian classical dance forms. A tailor made sari stitched in pleats falling in the front from the waist and a gorgeous silk with zari as blouse is the style of dressing for Bharatanatyam. There were only handpicked people to design such costumes and one amongst was the extraordinary personality Mr. Narayanaswamy, who was renowned for his creativeness in the costume designing.

The journey of Mr. Narayanaswamy, started in the year 1942 as a chief costumer in the famous Gemini studios. He was the one who enacted as personal costumer for the famous actresses Dr. Vyjayanthimala. He trained many young costume designers in his time and notable was his own son Mr. N. Balaraman who became the successor after him. It's the generation of Mr. Narayanaswamy, two grandsons Mr. B. Kothandaraman and Mr. Sridharraj have stepped in and continuing and endeavoring this in the brand name "Rajshridhar Dance Costumes", following the footprints of their grandfather.
